Our hope is to get your admission procedure settled and make you feel comfortable as soon as possible. On the day of your admission to UM Specialist Centre, you will meet our admission registration team at the admission counter located at Level 10, Menara Timur, Pusat Perubatan Universiti Malaya.

NOTE : For pregnant patients who are in active labour – please proceed to Ward Dahlia (Ward Topaz) Level 3, Kompleks Kesihatan Kanak-kanak & Wanita (KKWK).  Our staff will advice on the process of admission and deposit payment.

  • The deposit amount varies depending on nature of procedure or surgery which will be advised during preadmission counselling.
  • Self paying patients are required to pay the total estimated cost of the treatment/surgery at the point of admission.
  • For patients with insurance guarantee letter (GL), a standard minimum deposit will be collected during your admission. The amount varies depending on your insurance or GL provider which will be advised during preadmission counselling.
  • For patients with limited GL coverage, with co-payment or co-insurance a standard minimum deposit will be collected during your admission. The amount varies depending on your insurance or GL provider which will be advised by our team during preadmission counselling.
  • The deposit can be made by cash, debit cards/credit card/online transfer/bank draft.

  • Admission and Pre-admission Counseling Form (if any)
  • Patient Identification (NRIC for Malaysian or Passport for foreign patient)
  • If you are registering your child, his/her Mykid or birth certificate if below 12 years of age
  • Valid insurance card for insured patients
  • Guarantee Letter for patients with corporate insurance coverage
  • Relevant previous X-ray, CT Scan, U/sound, MRI and blood test reports( if any)
  • List of current medications taken on a regular basis, including over the counter and herbal medications
  • Drug/food allergy card (if any)

  • We have multiple types of room for your comfortable stay at UM Specialist Centre. Check out our room rates here.
  • Room Equipment
    1. TV
    2. Bathroom
    3. Sleeper chair (except double and four bedded room)
    4. Fridge (only in premier and premier executive)
    5. Nurse call bell system
  • Room Allocation 
    • For self-paying patient, you may select your preferred room type (subject to room availability).
    • For GL patient, room will be allocated based on your room/bed entitlement as stated on the GL(subject to room availability).
    • You may also choose to upgrade to a higher room type(differences of charges is applicable).
    • If your room/bed entitlement is unavailable, you may be allocated to other room types based on availability. You will be transferred to your preferred room once room available.
  • Only 1 companion is allowed to stay in with the patient (for single rooms only)
  • Companions are not allowed to stay in double-bedded and four-bedded room (for further clarifications please refer to the Nurse Manager in charge and she will advise your accordingly)

Call-bell

Call bell services will not be charged. Please call for assistance.

Valuables

For safety reasons, we do not allow you to bring any valuables into the hospital.

Valuables includes cash, jewellery, laptop or other items which has high monetary value. While we exercise due diligence to ensure safety of our patients UMSC does not accept any liability or responsibility for theft, loss or damage of personal belongings of patients or caretakers.

Meals

Meals are complimentary for inpatients only. Meals are provided according to patient’s condition. All meals are planned to meet your nutritional and dietary needs, with consideration of your cultural and religious perspectives.

Mealtimes are following the below schedule;

  • Breakfast : 7:30am – 8:30am
  • Lunch : 12pm – 1pm
  • Afternoon Tea : 3pm – 4pm
  • Dinner : 6pm to 7pm

Caretakers may order extra meal with an additional charge to your bill. Only 1 extra meal can be ordered by patient.

Please advise the hospital on any special meal preferences unless specifically ordered by our Doctor/Dietician during your stay at the hospital

Grooming Materials

Admission kit will be provided to you during admission. It consists of cotton bath towel, tooth paste, toothbrush, shower gel, shampoo and a cup.

We would recommend for you to bring;

  • Extra toiletries (soap, shampoo, shaver, shaving foam)
  • Bath towel, face towel
  • A pair of slippers – nonslip
  • Reading materials

Before leaving the hospital premise, please ensure that;

  • All personal belongings and valuables are collected
  • You have collected your take-home medications(if any), prescribed by your doctor
  • You have received Discharge Summary, Appointment card, Medical Certificate(if any), copies of investigation report (if any)
  • You have received your own medications (POM if any) from the ward

Interim Bills

  • Interim bills are available during your admission period, upon request . You may update your request at our Admission and Discharge Counter

What is the check out time?

Check out time is 30 minutes after settlement of payment. For any late check out there will be extra charges incurred

What is the cut off time for discharge?

Cut of time for discharge is at 7pm

What happens if I am discharged after 7pm?

For discharge after 7pm patient will be required to stay on another day which will incur additional charge.

Can I leave the hospital before I receive the final guarantee letter?

No, the patient needs to wait until the Final Guarantee Letter (FGL) is received from the Insurance Company. Any, Letter Of Undertaking (LOU) obtained must be with PIC approval during Discharge.

Is there any food outlet, convinient store or retail pharmacy available at Inpatient Wards?
