Endocrine Surgery Associate Professor Dr Ng Khoon Leong Expert In Endocrine Surgery View Profile Book an Appointment The Endocrine Surgery (ECS) Unit in the Division of General Surgery is one of the few full-time surgical units in Malaysia that manages patients with thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal problems exclusively. The Unit co-manages patients with pancreatic endocrine problems with the Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Unit. Approximately 100 thyroid and 10-20 parathyroid surgeries are done annually by our team of surgeons. Our objective is to provide a streamlined, comprehensive and high standard of care to surgical endocrine patients. The ECS Unit is also involved in teaching, research and clinical innovations. The ECS Unit is involved in teaching both undergraduate and postgraduate students. The Unit is also involved in clinical and translational research pertaining to the field of endocrine surgery. Our work has been published in peer-reviewed reputable journals and has also been presented in national and international conferences. The ECS Unit is also keen in exploring new and innovative treatment of various thyroid and endocrine-related diseases. In new surgical techniques, we have recently embarked on TOETVA (Trans-oral Endocscopic Thyroidectomy Vestibular Approach). Our research interests are in thyroid cancers and parathyroid diseases.
