It is our pleasure to introduce the cardiology service in UM Specialist Centre. This service is an extension of an already well-established service from University Malaya Medical Centre, providing personalized care to patients with a wide range of cardiovascular ailments.

As we are aware, University Hospital as it was known in the earlier days, was known for it’s many firsts in cardiovascular medicine in Malaysia. We continue to excel in this area of expertise by providing complex angioplasty treatment as well as permanent pacemakers and non-invasive cardiology services such as stress testing, echocardiography, cardiac MRI and nuclear tests.

We were among the first to initiate coronary angiograms and angioplasties via the wrist (radial) in 2005 thus enabling patients to ambulate soon after the treatment and enabling an earlier discharge.

In that same year, we started a 24/7 service providing acute cardiovascular care to patients presenting to our institution with a heart attack. These patients will be brought to our heart lab for immediate primary angioplasty.

We have three biplane angiogram machines and one hybrid theatre for the most complex and challenging heart procedures, as well as highly trained Cardiology Consultants.
