
Endoscopy Overview
Oesophageal-Gastro-Duodenoscopy (OGDS) is used to examine the upper part of the digestive system, including the esophagus, stomach, and duodenum. It is commonly performed to investigate symptoms such as persistent heartburn, nausea, vomiting, upper abdominal pain, difficulty swallowing, and unexplained weight loss.
Colonoscopy is performed to examine the inner lining of the large intestine (colon and rectum). It helps in diagnosing conditions such as colorectal cancer, polyps, inflammatory bowel disease, and unexplained changes in bowel habits.
Symptoms

The primary target group for OGDS includes :
- Individuals with symptoms such as persistent abdominal pain, difficulty swallowing, heartburn, unexplained weight loss, or gastrointestinal bleeding.
- Recommended for those with a family history of gastrointestinal diseases
- Individuals requiring routine screening due to specific health concerns.
The primary target group for Colonoscopy includes :
- Individuals aged 50 and older
- Those with a family history of colorectal cancer
- Individuals experiencing symptoms such as rectal bleeding, changes in bowel habits, or abdominal pain.
- Routine screening is also recommended for those at higher risk due to certain health conditions.
