A cataract is a clouding of the typically clear lens of the eye. For patients with cataracts, gazing through foggy lenses is similar to seeing through a frosty or fogged-up window. Cataracts can cause clouded vision, making it difficult to read, drive a car (especially at night), or recognize a friend’s expression.

Most cataracts form slowly and do not impair your vision at first. but with time will eventually obstruct your vision.
