Dr Eg Kah Peng is a paediatric respiratory and sleep medicine specialist in the University of Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC). She is also a lecturer of the Department of Paediatrics, Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya. She obtained her basic medical degree (MBBS) from International Medical University, Malaysia and postgraduate qualification (Master of Paediatrics) from University of Malaya. She received her sub-speciality training in paediatric respiratory and sleep medicine in UMMC since year 2013. She obtained certificates of Diploma in Paediatric Respiratory Medicine from the European Respiratory Society and Paediatric Respiratory Specialist from the Asian Pacific Pulmonology Society in year 2016. She was also granted a short-term research training scholarship by the Asian Pacific Society of Respirology in year 2017 and spent a year working as an honourary research fellow in the Department of Respiratory and Sleep Medicine, Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. Her research topic was mainly focused on the development and validation of a bronchoscopic-defined scoring system for bronchitis in children. She presented her preliminary research work in the Malaysian Thoracic Society Congress 2018 and won a best poster presentation award.
Dr Eg’s special interests include paediatric chronic cough, asthma and other wheezing illnesses, sleep-related breathing disorders and home ventilation. She is trained in procedures such as flexible bronchoscopy, percutaneous thoracocentesis, polysomnography reporting and non-invasive ventilation.

Dr Eg is a member of various national and international professional associations. She is a life member of Malaysian Paediatric Association and Malaysian Thoracic Society. She is also a member of European Respiratory Society, Asian Pacific Society of Respirology, and Australian & New Zealand Thoracic Society.

Besides serving as a clinician, academic staff and researcher, Dr Eg also participated in humanitarian work including being a voluntary doctor for Tzu Chi outreach ambulatory clinic for United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
