Haematology unit in UMSC provides cares of various blood disorders that include benign and malignant diseases. The malignant diseases include Hodgkin’s lymphoma, Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, acute leukaemias, chronic leukaemias, myeloproliferative neoplasms (essential thrombocythemia, polycythemia vera, myelofibrosis), myelodysplastic syndrome and multiple myeloma. The benign diseases in haematology are anaemias (iron deficiency, vitamin B12 deficiency, thalassaemia, aplastic anaemias, paroxysmal nocturnal haemoglobinuria),immunethrombocythopenia purpura, platelet disorders and venous thromboembolism.
