Professor Dr. Imran Zainal Abidin is a Senior Consultant Cardiologist with over 21 years of experience in the field. He received his MBBS from University of Malaya in 1995, Masters in Medicine in 2001 and as an Electrophysiology Fellow at National Heart Institute from 2005 to 2006 and 2011 to 2012. He was appointed to the position of Senior Lecturer in Cardiology in 2005 and became Professor in Cardiology in 2015. Presently, he is also a Senior Consultant Cardiologist, Cardiology Unit, University Malaya Medical Centre. Prof Imran's passion to expertly deploy exactly the right therapy at the right time. He has tirelessly spent his time and professional expertise on reviews to develop ethical guidelines and standards for management of heart diseases. He is affiliated with many professional bodies like National Heart Association (NHAM), Asia Pacific Heart Rhythm Society and Asia Pacific (APHRS), Society of Interventional Cardiology (APSIC), Asean Federations of Cardiology (AsCC) and European Society of Cardiology (ESC). He was the Chairman of the Malaysian Society of Pacing and Cardiac Electrophysiology (SoPACE) and a Council Member of National Heart Association Malaysia (NHAM) from 2011-2015. He was also the only Malaysian cabinet member of the Asia Pacific Heart Rhythm Society (APHRS) during the same period. Prof Imran areas of interest includes interventional cardiology, heart failure management and cardiac arrhythmia involving implantable devices. Prof Imran is also a prolific researcher and has been the Principal Investigator in 25 Registry/Clinical studies. He has published extensively in the field of Cardiology.
